Artist Statement

“Life is too short to remain unnoticed.”

-Salvador Dalí

Art presents us with a unique opportunity to observe, notice, and experience ourselves and the reality around us. It conjures feelings that can’t be expressed in words, it illuminates truths that lie buried within us, and it reminds us that beauty remains even in the midst of pain, confusion, or the chaos of life.

As a mindfulness coach, my passion is helping women notice what’s going on in their bodies and minds so they can respond thoughtfully and intentionally. As an artist, I use painting to help me with both of those things. Throughout the creative process of planning and painting, I reflect on the world within me and the world around me—what I’m noticing about my nature or about human nature. After I’ve meditated on an idea or concept, I use visual imagery to express what I feel like life is trying to teach or show me so that others are invited into reflection as well.

My inspiration comes from many places, including books, poetry, music, personal experience, and conversations with clients and friends.
