Be the bouquet
that grows in no one’s garden
You did not break through the earth
just to be put in the vase
on the dining room table
of your childhood home

Let no one convince you
that you must change your color
to complement their decor
There is no such thing
as being
a pleasant sight
to everyone

There is only
the unruly path
towards the sun
and being caught between
those who walk it with you
and those who misdirect
your footsteps towards them
